Brass Band Northwest and Seattle Pacific University are delighted to welcome Tim Salzman and Doug Yeo to NWBF – 2020!
Timothy Salzman is in his 33nd year at the University of Washington where he serves as Professor of Music/Director of Concert Bands, is conductor of the University Wind Ensemble and teaches students enrolled in the graduate instrumental conducting program. Prior to his appointment at the UW he served for four years as Director of Bands at Montana State University where he founded the MSU Wind Ensemble. From 1978 to 1983 he was band director in the Herscher, Illinois, public school system where the band program received several regional and national awards in solo/ensemble, concert and marching band competition.
Recognized worldwide as a leading low brass performer, teacher, scholar, and author, Douglas Yeo was bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony from 1985-2012. Before coming to Boston, he was a member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, a free-lance musician in New York City, and a high school band director. From 2012-2016 he served as Professor of Trombone at Arizona State University and has also been on the faculties of New England Conservatory of Music, Boston University, and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He is currently on the faculty of Wheaton College.
