Northwest Brass Festival Concert

Images in Brass features musical pictures.   Arthur Butterworth wrote Three Impressions about scenes from 19th century Northumberland and include Wylam Colliery, Deserted Farm, and the Royal Border Bridge, Berwick Upon Tweed 1859. Regarding Luminosity, Nancy Galraithe writes, "The title (a pun on "luminous city") alludes to the bright, shimmering character of the music created through rich, lively brass textures, and the colorful interplay of piano and mallet instruments (vibraphone, xylophone, marimba, glockenspiel, crotales)." Debussy is noted for his ability to depict…
