Hosted by Brass Band Northwest, the Gala Concert wraps-up the Northwest Brass Festival Brass Band day. (For more information on the Festival, click here.)
The bands participating in the Festival each present their best repertoire, with one piece by each band conducted by Festival Guest Conductor Stephen Bulla. Mr. Bulla is a well-known and accomplished composer, enjoyed a 30-year stint as Staff Arranger to “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band and Chamber Orchestra in Washington DC, and is artistic director for New England Brass Band.
Festival Guest Artist and clinician, Charles Villarrubia, will perform on tuba for the enjoyment of the Festival participants and the concert audience, accompanied by Brass Band Northwest under the baton of Mr. Bulla. Villarrubia is Associate Professor of Tuba/Euphonium and Brass Chamber Music at The University of Texas (Austin) and a founding member of Rhythm & Brass. He has been a member of the Dallas Brass and has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra. Mr. Villarrubia is a Yamaha Artist.
The concert concludes with an always thrilling performance by the combined bands, arranged around the perimeter of the hall, encircling the audience with a wave of all-brass music!
